DIY Fiberglass Swimming Pool
Resurfacing (UGlassIt)
Fiberglass is not
a DIY solution for swimming pool resurfacing. Fiberglass Swimming Pool Restoration
systems like UGlassIt have been around for a long time and have been used by
many contractors within the pool industry. The probelem is that they were never
meant to be a do-it-yourself application. Fiberglass Pool Resurfacing is a very
complicated process and should only be completed by a trained professional.

As you can see by the video above, the process of resurfacing a swimming pool with fiberglass is both complicated and dangerous. This is not something that should be done by yourself.
Gelcoats
Gelcoats are another
reason not to use a fiberglass pool resurfacing system like UglassIt. The gelcoat
is essentially the top coating that is applied over the fiberglass matting on
the swimming pool's surface. Gelcoats are sold in many decorative colors to
add aesthetic value to your pool, but what Bill Nash and the DIY fiberglass
companies will never tell you is that gelcoats were never intended for use in
swimming pools. Gelcoats will react with pool chemicals and eventualy cause
a delamination of the fiberglass pool matting. Gelcoats are also highly toxic
and send of caustic fumes when applied that are harmful to pets and children.
When applying a gelcoat you will notice that you must always wear a respirator.
Industrial Epoxy Swimming
Pool Resurfacing
Today's swimming
pool epoxies can actually create a structural membrane that both adheres to
the substrate and provides 100% leak protection. Swimming Pool Epoxy is also
far less volatile than gelcoats and will not react with pool chemicals. To
